I offer full-spectrum support for a gentle transition to parenthood, including holistic birth and parenting preparation workshops, birth and postpartum doula services, placenta encapsulation, birth photography, and oodles more.

Expectant parents are sometimes worried about venturing into unfamiliar territory on the journey through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and early parenting. I help parents develop a relaxed, positive mindset to embark on the greatest adventure of their lives with excitement, strength, confidence, and ease.

I Believe

I believe that if we change the way children experience their first moments, weeks, months and years of their lives, that we can change the world. If I can help a child come into the world into awe-inspired love-struck arms, to parents that are prepared for the journey through pregnancy, birth, and early parenting, and help to set the tone for the next twenty years together, then I can help to be a part of the force to change this world.

Humans are pretty good at making babies. I trust birth and I trust breastfeeding. I trust undisturbed birth and I trust medical solutions that keep families healthy and safe. I believe that parents are the experts of their children. When parents have the space to tap in and trust their wise intuition, they find that they already know the best ways to grow, birth, and care for their babies.

I believe that giving birth is one of the most profound and transformative experiences of our lives and that having caring, compassionate support right from the start can help families cherish the beauty of their journey.

How it all began

I’ve always loved teaching. I left one school for another and began working in education after high school. I took a job at a child development center to start sampling age groups as I continued my education towards becoming a teacher. It turned out, I absolutely loved working with young children. The babies, the toddlers, the twos, the threes, the preschoolers! I was IN LOVE. I never left. I taught during the day, and went to school at night. I was hooked: a preschool teacher for life.

Fast forward a few years and I had my own baby. Here I was with all this terrific experience and knowledge about the way young children learned and developed. I knew all the best practices for educators and I had been teaching parents and faculty about child development for over a decade. After all the long years of working with families and young children, I entered a completely different world as a parent. After my son was born, I realized just how deeply those very early experiences in a family’s life together affect the rest of their lives. By the time the children were enrolled at the center, a huge opportunity for supporting families in their transition was already closing. I felt change in the air. This stage of child development was where I had to be.

I began attending births and supporting families in postpartum when my son was a toddler. It wasn’t long before the teaching bug was back under my skin, and I began teaching childbirth education and leading parent support groups the following year. Realizing an unmet need in my community for full-spectrum birth services, I started offering placenta encapsulation and postpartum wellness services to families in my community in addition to teaching and attending births.

How I got here

I have a degree in psychology with an emphasis on early childhood development, education, and early intervention for children and families with special needs. I have received live and online training and certification from many of the leading organizations in the field including DONA, CAPPA, APPA, Sacred Pregnancy, Birthing from Within, and GentleBirth, and I am a certified Birth Spirituality and Healing Coach.

I have specific training and experience with homebirth, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, perinatal loss, early intervention, high-risk pregnancy and bed-rest, cesarean, and vaginal birth after cesarean.

I am half-academic and half woo-woo and I love to hang out at the intersection of science and spirituality. I have been practicing mindfulness meditation for nearly twenty years and singing is my favorite medicine.
